In "A World Without War," the United States is nothing like we know it in reality. Learn more about each nation below. The United States
The United States isn't quite as united as it boasts only 13 states in the northeast with just 6 of the original colonies in tact. Of course, the nation still has the same form of government as we know it, and elections can be tricky as some cycles there is not a royal blooded president, leaving the US vulnerable to no Peace Treaty protections. The two main political parties-the Saturn Society and the Totus Party- are encouraged to put forth a candidate each cycle with royal blood. While Totus has done so every time since their inception in 1915, Saturns have done the opposite for the most part, but has seen those presidents win more often. Saturns believe in US independence and has kept that base idea since its founding year of 1867 by President Richard Bancroft, whose ancestor, Benedict Bancroft, was the first president of the US. The Totus party on the other hand, was founded to have complete cooperation with the rest of the world. There's more depth to these parties than that, but we still have more nations to cover in the blog! Hibernia Heading south, you'll come across Hibernia, formerly known as the Confederate States. After peaceful succession from the union, the southern nation needed royal blood to claim rulership, for peace treaty protections. The Kingdom of Ireland was chosen as the sovereign on the promise that Hibernia would transition away from its disturbing practices of slavery. While in our reality, America had the bloodiest civil war recorded in human history, things nearly went that far in this timeline. In the 1860 election, Abraham Lincoln advocated for civil war if the south did not cooperate with new US laws after many declared succession. His opponent, George B. McClellan, ran on the platform that civil war was not the answer, but to allow the south to split and form a new trading partner. Peace was on the minds of all Americans and McClellan won in a landslide. The split hurt the US economy for a century while the newly formed nation blossomed as a global leader. That was until they neglected to follow through with their promise of removing slavery and sanctions began to pile up. Today, slave trading is outlawed beyond Hibernia's borders and slaves are not to be mistreated. While a handful of slaves still exist, many have been set free. Hibernia, however, has felt more pressure than ever before to sort out their poor ethics, as Ireland has recently threatened to use its sovereignty rights. The Unregistered Territory If you cross the Mississippi River from the US or Hibernia, you'll enter the Unregistered Territory- land claimed by the US, Hibernia, and independent native tribes that have pushed out from Tahoma or moved away from the original colonization of the eastern nations. Neither the US nor Hibernia offers protection to anyone who dares to settle land in the territory, leading to many instances in where skirmishes happen between tribes and settlers. But not all is violent as some trading outposts and trade routes have been established over the last 200 years. Even Canada and Mexico have entered the trades, both of whom have an outstanding relationship with independent tribes and Tahoma. Conspiracy theories have sprouted in the last 100 years. Some political leaders in the US, particularly those in the Saturn Society, have suggested that Tahoma have paid independent tribes to fight settlers in the Unregistered Territory "to prevent civilization from spreading." Ranking representatives in Tahoma have denied these claims, but the Society believes it is why their leader stays unidentified and have demanded that they step forward. Tahoma Once you travel west through the Rocky Mountains, you'll enter the nation of Tahoma, where native tribes have banded together to form their own central government. Not much is known about Tahoma besides that they allow tribes to live peacefully in their own ways without the fear of colonization from the east. They have royal blood ruling as their current leader comes from descendants of a tribe chief and a French princess that established the blood connection for peace protections. However, no one knows the leader's identity to keep them safe and always under protection of the Peace Treaty. All nations allow the use of magic, but you'll find more US citizens with a physical core, Hibernians with a natural core, and Tahoes with a spiritual core. The US loves their dueling competitions and many other forms of competition have sprouted up with the use of physical magic. With agriculture being a foundation to Hibernia's economy, only second to Australia in the world's food supply, most citizens learn natural magic. Tahoes will sometimes venture into natural, but spiritual magic is part of many tribes' traditions as they seek the wisdom and guidance of the dead.
